I recently rearranged my cookbooks in colour order. It’s wildly impractical, but it looks so pretty I don’t want to change it.
Some of my orange and pink favourites:
- Appetite by Nigel Slater for his incomparably delicious comfort food – so much flavour!
- Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day by Jeff Hertzberg and Zoë François for showing how easy it can be to make healthy, wholegrain, handmade breads at home. I am happy to say that Leeds has a couple of great sourdough bakeries now (always my first choice), but if I can’t get my sourdough fix, then these techniques are the next best thing.
- The Sugar Club Cookbook by Peter Gordon for its creative take on multicultural cuisines and his ideology on fusion food – that all food is fusion food and ‘authentic’ cuisines are nationalistic fictions. I heartily agree.
- Thai Food by David Thompson for its obsessive research and incredible detail about this country’s food and ingredients.
